Leinster Schools / Senior Road Race / National 5K / Ballymurn 5k
Leinster Schools
Josh Nolan was competing in the school Wexford CBS colours at the Leinster Schools Track & Field. He was competing in his favourite event javelin.
He had a good day in a very competitive field throwing for a 6th place finish in the Intermediate boys.
Congratulations Josh and a great result.
Mr Oil Senior Road Race
The historic village of Ferns was the destination of the counties club athletes as they met to do battle under the imposing Castle building in the village square for the right to be crowned Senior County Champion. S.B.R. were the hosts as the village welcomed the clubs to their stomping ground.
The Competition up front is intense but each and every athlete whe steps up to race the Mr Oil County Series has to be commended. Everyone puts in a huge effort in these races as can be seen in tge determined race faces in the photos.
The weather played ball and threw up a nice evening for athletes as they lined up with the ladies race first on the start line at 7pm. Five of our lady members were in their club vests amongst the big crowd of lady athletes awaiting the start. A well known 5k route saw Ilze Bedrite, Catherine O'Connor, Nora Boggan, Ann Thomas & Helen Sinnott all compete well putting in good times after their recent training plans.
The mens race was next up as they faced a 10k, 2 loop race. Three of our men stepped up to do battle with Tony Harpur, Paul Harpur & John Dier all running well on the night.
A special mention to Ann & Paul in their first race in club colours, congratulations to you both and hoping its the first of many.
Thanks to the hosts S.B.R. and the County Board for another well organised event.
A word of appreciation to Siobhan Doyle who officiated and to Helen Sinnott & Tadhg Henderson who gave their time as Competition Secretary ensuring smooth entry for everyone.

Biofreeze Irish Runner 5k / National 5k
Huge congratulations to Roisín O'Reilly who this morning had a fantastic 5k run in Phoenix Park finishing in 16:54
That was enough to secure her 3rd lady and a bronze podium finish.
A huge achievement claiming a National medal, well done Roisín
Ballymurn 5k
The community of Ballymurn came together for the rescheduled holding of their very popular 5k fundraising run on Saturday evening. They split the proceeds between the local National School and Temple Street Children's Hospital.
It's a popular event among the running community especially those who like the short race distance. The route is now a well worn route with the ever popular 'drag' near the end to test the legs.
4 of our men took the spin out and put in 4 good performances coming home happy with their times.
Well done gentlemen and well done to Bobby Redmond & Co on their organisation of the event.

parkrun
A much smaller group running parkrun as Wexford Racecourse hosted a horse racing meet which meant parkrun was cancelled. Some members travelled elsewhere for their hit.
Brian Smyth was in Gorey Parkrun and had an enjoyable morning as he was the first to complete the 5k route.
Enda O'Sullivan was in Templemore Parkrun for his 5k.
Helen Burrell took a spin to JFK Park for the New Ross Parkrun.
