Mick Murphy 5K / Clontarf Half Marathon / National Juveniles Day 1 / parkrun
Mick Murphy Ferns 5k
Friday evening races, some hate them but it appears 173 people love them as they lined up in Ferns Square under the historic castle awaiting the starters gun. The expected rain showers held off just long enough thankfully. A superb atmosphere as many club colours were on display warming up in anticipation of what was a very competitive race as 13 athletes went under 17 minutes and 57 athletes dipped under 20 mins.
Our crew of 9 ran excellent with Samantha Donegan has a brilliant run breaking her PB time for 5k.
A big Happy 60th Birthday to Catherine O'connor who celebrated her birthday by running the race.
Well done to SBR AC on a well organised event and thanks to Sportsphoto Ireland for the photos.

Clontarf Half Marathon
Ryan Ellard is a recent addition to our membership who joined up after befriending some of our members at parkrun. Today he took on his 2nd Half Marathon which took part in Clontarf, part of the Bear Races Trilogy which includes Wexford & Wicklow Half Marathons.
The Half has become a popular race distance among many and Ryan is certainly one of those.
Today he ran a great time of 1 hour 39 minuted which sets a new PB for himself. Fantastic stuff from a young man who only took up running 14 months ago.
Congratulations to you Ryan, enjoy the recovery.
123.ie National Juvenile Chammpionships Day 1
A fantastic achievement just to qualify to compete at the National Championships which took place in Tullamore today.
Two of our athletes were competing after qualifying from the Leinster Championships a few weeks ago.
Lucas Page Redmond had a tough day in the U18 long jump pit with a best jump of 5.37m which saw him finish in 12th place.
Elijah Page Redmond was on the throwing cage for U16 discus with a best of 31.85m which saw him finish in 9th place.
A special thank you to the boys grandmother who stepped in to drive the boys to Tullamore today.
Thanks to Catherine O'Connor for traveling as our club coach on the day.
